Dr. Cahoon and Dr. Knappe were honored with the Green Tie Award by the NC League of Conservation Voters. Drs. Cahoon and Knappe both received the Catalyst Award, which is presented to someone who has taken exceptional action to create change and/or to bring attention to an important environmental issue. The award recognizes someone with a long history and/or strong commitment to serving the public and protecting environmental quality.
Dr. Cahoon serves as the Team Lead for the Partnership’s Water Quality Committee. At the Partnership’s annual May 2017 meeting, Dr. Cahoon asked Dr. Knappe to discuss emerging contaminants in the Cape Fear River. It was in this meeting that the Partnership first learned about the newly discovered Gen X contamination issue. We are honored to have both Dr. Cahoon and Dr. Knappe as partners in the Cape Fear River Partnership!
